The new luxury First Five-Star Resort is based a stone’s throw from Komodo National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. With stunning 180-degree views of the calming Flores Sea, AYANA Komodo by Wimberly Interiors received the visitors with a roof-top lobby area, where one of the hotel’s three cosy bars can be found bathed in a golden glow every evening.
The new luxury First Five-Star Resort hospitality design draws inspiration on Komodo Dragon’s power, and gripping body inspired the architecture of the guest wing. The guest wing is expressed as a single curved form with repeating tessellated surfaces and balcony edges which are abstracted from the body and skin of the famed reptile.

Meanwhile, the Luxury First Five-Star Resort architecture also draws inspiration from the Manggarai Mountain range, and a collection of local materials and traditional Batik patterns to create an informed identity for the hotel hospitality design.
“This is the first world-class destination in the area and it will serve as a benchmark for future development. We designed the Ayana Komodo Resort to reflect the relaxed aesthetic of the Komodo Islands, with a feeling of spontaneity and subtle sophistication.”, said Bill Reed, Vice President of architecture at WATG.
Ayana Komodo by Wimberly Interiors features 192 rooms and 13 suites, on-site guest amenities include a 420sq m spa, six restaurants, two shoreside pools, and a 500sq m pier leading to a private diving centre.
