SHH created two spaces within the Barbican centre: the Barbican Lounge and the Barbican Foodhall. The Barbican Lounge is a 150 seat restaurant, that was given a distinctly individual and bold design treatment in striking colours.
Bespoke installations, vintage tables with murano glass tops, and a peacock green resin floor were amongst the many special features used to create this space within one of London’s greatest 20th-century architectural landmarks.
Located right below the Barbican Lounge is the Barbican Foodhall – a ground-level restaurant and shop which offers a range of deli-style products.
Including all branding and graphics, the interior scheme created by SHH Studio links the space back to the design of the Barbican itself by combining concrete ceilings and brick paver flooring with site-specific lighting and furniture.
Founded in 1991 by David Spence, Graham Harris and Neil Hogan, SHH is an internationally acclaimed, and award-winning, Chartered Architecture and Interior Design practice based in West London, which is dedicated to creating world-class projects with integrity, intelligence and flair.
SHH knows that every project is an opportunity to create something that is both extraordinary and unique within a design that is effective, practical and smart. A bespoke team of designers is dedicated to every project to manage each stage within a carefully coordinated program. Design is key, but the completion of every project on time and on the budget is as fundamental for SHH Studio as well.
