Design Contract present you selection of five iconic Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe. Worldwide known chefs’ and luxury design interior will amaze you.
The Yeatman’s Restaurant in Porto
Yeatman’s Restaurant provides an environment of classic comfort, where discreet and understated service blends with the warm welcome for which Porto is famous. The extraordinary panorama of the River Douro and the historic center of Porto guarantee the most spectacular scenery, combined with a Michelin star award in the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Guides.
Aiming to deliver Oporto’s most inspiring dining experience, The Yeatman’s restaurant led by Chef Ricardo Costa, offers imaginative cuisine in which the traditional flavours of Portugal are interpreted and presented with contemporary flair. It showcases Portugal’s huge range of fish and other fresh produce as well as its diversity of regional specialties.
Listing a comprehensive choice of Portuguese wines, as well as a wide selection from other great vineyards around the globe, the gastronomic restaurant makes a special feature of food and wine pairing. A programme of tasting menus allows guests to discover a wealth of matching and contrasting flavours as they are taken on a journey through Portugal’s diverse and varied wine regions. Restaurant can be proud of its interior, cozy environment and comfortable hand made armchairs similar to Brabbu.
Pritate dinning in Amaya’s Private Room is a shimmering, exotic, captivating treat. Whether for a business function or a private celebration, this room has a spicy drama quite unlike any other. The beautifully elegant long polished table, crowned by a fringe of iridescent long crystal drops, seats up to 14, making this the most intimate of the group’s fine private dining rooms. The table can be adjusted to seat fewer persons.
The style and quality of the furnishings and finishes, from the hand-painted wall paper to the exceptional intricate painting to thetiniest table detail, and hand made armchairs, similar to our reccomended, was designed andimplemented to complement the trendy and chic restaurant that is Amaya. Situateddown stairs from the main restaurant you enjoy the luxury of the transporting Eastern-style splendour in total exclusivity. The award winning food on the Private Room’s menus is an apporpriate match for this coveted venue, along with a slick cosmopolitan service.
Feeling spacious, romantic, and wondrously lit in a sensual purple haze, this room is desirable for that ‘all special’ calendar event, however, it is also extremely popular for business gatherings too, being so excellently located in London’s Belgravia, and a short walk from Knightsbridge and Sloane Square.
Santeloni in Hesperia Hotel, Madrid
Located on the Paseo de la Castellana, Hesperia Hotel in Madrid is the essence of luxury in Madrid. A 2013 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence winner, this hotel boasts a sophisticated décor and comfortable accommodations. Each of the rooms at Hesperia Madrid offers high-end amenities and suites that offer separate living spaces, some with rooftop terraces. Hesperia Madrid is home to three exclusive design restaurants, including the award-winning Santceloni.
Santceloni is a Michelin two-starred restaurant that presents traditional dishes from all Spanish regions in a creative, avant-garde way. Acclaimed chef, Oscar Velasco, manages the sophisticated menu with attention to detail. Santceloni has an on-site Sommelier, David Robledo, who created a selection of over 600 fine wines. After dinner visit the adjacent Santceloni smoking club.
Ramon Freixa in Madrid
Awarded 2 Michelin stars, it matches the requirements of comfort, refinement and elegance. It is a modern environment without the slavery of minimalist audacities, illuminated with the criterion of wide tables and comfortable chairs, similar to our reccomended. The perfectionism of Ramon Freixa is extended to the dining room, the “space of happiness”.
The luxury is spaciousness and a personalized service with only 35 seats in the dining area and a private room for 10 people. A mural at Gran Vía certifies that you can go “from Madrid to heaven” through gastronomy. The restaurant leans over a delicate garden, another luxury in the heart of Madrid.
Adam’s Restaurant in UK
Bespoke interiors specialist Heterarchy have created a new ‘pop-up’ restaurant for Michelin starred chef Adam Stokes, in Birmingham city centre. The 70 sq m, 25 cover restaurant is the first venture for Adam Stokes since leaving his post as head chef at Glenapp Castle in Scotland. ‘Adam’s‘ is a contemporary fine dining restaurant, serving up a sophisticated blend of familiar flavour combinations with modern, inventive twists.
The interior manages to strike a balance between luxury and informality, to feel exclusive yet be approachable. A large trompe l’oeil of a Gothic corridor adds a sense of grandeur and a touch of the unexpected, providing this compact site with both visual depth and focus. Cornicing and panelled walls combine with antique mirrors and faux marble inserts add to the traditional feel. Walls are painted in a warm, muted grey with a rich, dark grey above the cornice and on the ceiling.
A stitched leather effect wallpaper adds a metallic sheen to this neutral palette. Seating, similar to our reccomended, is traditional in style but given a contemporary look thanks to the matching frame and upholstery colour, using a combination of warm metallic silver and contrasting ink blue. Tables are a dark wood veneer and flooring a neutral silvered oak vinyl.
Bespoke lighting is a key element of the design. ‘Crackled’ glass globes combine with functional spotlights, all fixed to a track system that allows for changes to the layout if required. Bespoke wall lights complete a scheme that is both functional and atmospheric. The restaurant is understated and elegant, pitched at just the right level for the vibrant fine dining scene in Birmingham. The quality of the interior belies it’s modest cost, testament indeed to the skill of the designers.
