Design Contract present top 5 most recent luxury hotels openings worldwide in 2014. These luxurious places offer intimate and discreet guest experience while providing the highest level of service. Each hotel and setting is unique, but certain elements characterise all of them — a beautiful natural location, outstanding facilities, exceptional service, limited edition furniture and lightning and a small number of rooms to ensure exclusivity and privacy.
Inter Continental revealed its seventh Japanese hotel this month, with the opening of Inter Continental Osaka. The substantial property has a total of 215 guest rooms, which average 50sq metres in size, and also houses residences. ‘Pierre’ is the property’s signature contemporary French restaurant, NOKA its brasserie; the hotel also features a spa, 24-hour gym and its own wedding chapel, shown here.
Another option for business travellers to Brussels is now provided by newly opened Pullman Brussels. In the Midi area, the 237-room property is close to Notre Dame du Sablon, La Grande Place and the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium.
Amanresorts fourth Mediterranean property is unveiled this month, with the opening of Aman Canal Grande Venice. Containing 24 suites, the property is opulently decorated with frescoes and reliefs – parts of the building date from the 16th century. Although an intimate space, it also includes a spa and private garden – a rarity in Venice.
A restored castle with just 38 rooms and suites, Castell son Claret in Majorca is flanked by stables and guardhouses and features a spa, indoor and outdoor pools, hamman and restaurant overseen by Michelin-starred chef Fernando Perez Arellano.
Another Hilton property, five-star Hilton Shillim Estate Retreat and Spa is set on the 3,500 acre Shillim Estate within the Sahyadri mountain range in India’s Western Ghats. The retreat aims to become one of the most extensive spa resorts in Asia and, to that end, it will feature a 70-acre ‘Spa Zone’ where guests can sample from the 150 different treatments on offer.
